Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce (KICC) is one of Kent’s largest networking and business support providers. With more than 1,200 members across Kent, they offer a range of services ranging from business support and advice, legal and HR services as well as networking events and more.
KICC thrive on supporting small business owners to grow their brand and meet connections that can help them achieve exactly that.
In early 2019, Kent Invicta Chamber put their website out for tender following internal stakeholder conversations that highlighted the site wasn’t reflective of all of their services. They also realised that the site was outdated, clunky and that returning users had no clear user journey.
The client’s requirements were broad and complex, but we also knew they wanted a solution that would simplify what had become a mammoth website. In a bid to move all event bookings online, we leveraged WordPress with WooCommerce to allow users to make all event ticket transactions and bookings directly from the website. By doing this, we took away a lot of the manual work previously required by the KICC team. This functionality has also been extended to include memberships so that new and existing members could manage their subscription online.
Another key feature of this project was the development of the ‘My Chamber’ area. This element of the site allows members to manage their profiles, benefits, subscriptions and more in a password-protected zone. The member area has also enabled users to upload blog content to their member profiles which act as a mini online presence for those just starting out. The area also operates using advanced search functionality, making it easy for users to find and sort through the masses of members in the directory as well as the member blogs.
Most importantly, KICC wanted to be able to manage, create and update content themselves which meant they needed an admin area that was intuitive, easy to use and most of all, fit for purpose. We designed and built a backend that put everything the KICC team wanted in one place; including dashboards that make monitoring payments, memberships and event bookings effortless tasks.
Following the site’s launch in the Spring of 2019, the Chamber has seen a steady flow of traffic where visitors are now able to return to the site for regular news, updates and events. The site perfectly communicates the KICC message and sets the standard for all Chamber of Commerce websites and the client has reported a significant increase in the number of online membership applications which has further improved their return on investment. Since the site’s go live in spring last year, the website has also seen some impressive results including:
