At Supersonic Playground, we’re committed to minimising our environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices across all aspects of our operations. As a digital agency, while our work primarily involves the creation of websites without a physical footprint, we still have a responsibility to reduce our overall carbon and environmental impact.
As a digital-first company, we do not consume physical materials, chemicals, or pollutants in the production of our websites. However, we recognise that resources are required to manufacture the IT equipment we use. To mitigate this, we have a ‘long use’ policy, where we maximise the lifespan of our equipment, replacing it only when absolutely necessary. This approach helps to reduce the environmental impact associated with frequent technology upgrades.
We use modern, energy-efficient devices and systems to ensure minimal energy consumption. Additionally, we strive to create websites that are optimised for speed and efficiency. Fast-loading websites not only improve the user experience but also consume less energy when accessed and reduce storage demands on hosting servers, which further decreases energy consumption. We select hosting providers based on their commitment to sustainability, including data centres powered by renewable energy sources where possible.
Our team operates under a hybrid working model, combining the benefits of in-office collaboration with the flexibility of remote working. By working from home 50% of the time, we reduce the environmental impact associated with commuting, thereby lowering our overall carbon emissions.
Our office, located in a state-of-the-art facility built in 2022, is designed with energy efficiency in mind. It is well insulated and equipped with modern systems that help minimise energy consumption. We actively utilise these benefits to ensure that our workspace is as eco-friendly as possible.
We operate a paper-free office, eliminating the need for printers or paper usage. Our commitment to a digital workspace extends to all documentation, communication, and collaboration, with only occasional use of notepads.
We are committed to proper waste management and use the recycling facilities provided in our office. We actively encourage our team to reduce waste and recycle as much as possible to contribute to the circular economy.
Wherever possible, we opt for virtual meetings over face-to-face engagements to reduce the need for travel and its associated emissions. Video conferencing helps us maintain productive relationships with clients while reducing our environmental footprint.
We are exploring options for carbon offsetting to further mitigate our unavoidable emissions, such as supporting renewable energy initiatives or tree-planting projects. As part of our future sustainability goals, we aim to continue investing in environmental best practices.
We encourage our employees to adopt sustainable practices both in and outside the office. This includes reducing energy consumption, minimising waste, and supporting eco friendly initiatives.
Our commitment to sustainability is ongoing. We will review our environmental impact regularly and make updates as new environmental technologies, resources, and practices emerge, ensuring we are at the forefront of sustainable digital operations.
