The first stage in our Custom Website Design Process starts with creating the UI (User Interface) and website layout that will form the basis of your new site. We’ll deconstruct your existing website and work with you to find out what works, and what doesn’t. We’ll then create a new structure and a suite of wireframe prototypes (which are basic structural layouts) to help define what the content will look like and how it will be arranged on each page of the website, in preparation for your branding and visual design styles to be applied.
Why UX is so important in web design
But we don’t just stop at creating a new website layout. The experience of a strong brand extends far beyond just the logo and visual style. In our digital world, the experience that a visitor or customer has with a brand (what we call ‘user experience’ or ‘UX’) is often just as memorable as the brand itself – and sometimes more so. Just as swiping left and right has become synonymous with Tinder, and search has become synonymous with Google, often the way that a user engages with a brand is more important than ever. For a user experience agency you can trust to deliver a high-quality website layout, choose Supersonic Playground.
Wherever possible, we try to involve your users and customers in the UX design process of your website. We call this three-way thinking, as it means that we combine your knowledge of your business, our knowledge of web design and development, and your customer’s preferences in terms of what will work best for them.
As a user experience agency, we have delivered dozens of high-performing, beautifully designed, responsive websites – you could say we already know a thing or two about what works and what doesn’t. The feedback we’ve gained over the years has been invaluable, and so when we design your new website, we’ll use this insight to create a structure and website layout design that is bound to take your site to the next level.
But for more complex projects or ones where there’s an unusual challenge, we’d always recommend involving your users wherever possible, and ideally throughout the whole UX design process. You never know for sure how visitors will use your website until they actually use it, so involving them as early in the process as possible is vital and can avoid the costly risk of launching a new website that doesn’t resonate with your audience and often lead to a negative user experience.
Fortunately, we have an array of web design tools and techniques vital in honing UX design, which we use alongside our standard wireframe website layout. As a part of this process, we will also involve your users to get a better idea of what works, and what doesn’t. UX design can make or break a web design project and should be a key consideration from the get-go.
As a part of our UX design services, we make use of various tools and techniques with the goal of honing your website’s user interface.
If your old website is large or has been around for many years, we can carry out a website audit on the content and leverage our experience to provide recommendations on aspects of your website layout that may need refining.
Once we’ve audited the content, we carry out an on-site workshop with you to review your existing website’s content to decide on what should be kept, and what might be worth getting rid of.
If we’re replacing a website with an existing userbase, we can conduct telephone interviews with a selection of users to find out what they like, and what they don’t in terms of user experience for your existing website and gain insight into what they would like to see on your new custom website.
Similar to a content audit, we thoroughly audit your existing website from a design perspective to assess what works well and where there is room for improvement.
We can conduct a broad research and analysis of your competitors to provide valuable insight into your marketplace. This analysis may even help us identify key areas of focus to gain competitive advantage online.
We make use of user interface tools to create the basic navigation structure of your new website to test how easy your users can find key areas, and whether the naming works.
We can create a number of variations for important pages of your new custom-built website and then split the traffic in real time to measure which one engages your users the best.
The core of our UX design services: Wireframes. These are basic layout designs that we create for every project. They define the layout and content for the website’s key pages.
We can conduct on-site testing of our early wireframes with your users in order to gauge their reactions to the new website layouts, and correct any weak areas.
Our friendly team of designers, developers and digital specialists are ready and waiting to help with your website project.
