LASER Education

The Background

LASER Education is the schools and multi-academy trust service of LASER Energy, which has been the energy division of Kent County Council’s Commercial Services Group since 1989. We also built LASER’s main website. LASER is a Department for Education partner and approved framework provider, and supports more than 5,000 schools and academies with energy buying, LED lighting and rooftop solar.

The Challenge

LASER wanted a website that speaks directly to education. School business managers and trust leaders need to see quickly that LASER understands their budgets, that its frameworks are approved by the DfE, and how to get started. A single school and a trust running dozens of sites have different problems, so the site had to talk to both. Teachers were an audience too, through the free resources LASER offers for the classroom.

Our Solution

We built a custom WordPress website with a modular content builder, so the team can put new pages together themselves. Energy, LED lighting and rooftop solar each have their own page, and the support is explained separately for schools and for MATs. Case studies, some with video, show projects in other schools, and every page leads to booking a free consultation.

The Energy Action Hub is a free library of downloads, split into resources for teachers and for management: lesson plans and activity packs for the classroom, and practical guides on energy bills and regulations for the people paying them.
